Your Tutor

Liam Ross

I'm Liam Ross (previous artist name 'Lekota’), founder & DJ tutor at On Beat. I have been teaching the art of DJing for over 6 years. My journey began at the age of 13 when my cousin taught me to mix on vinyl. Seventeen years on, my passion for DJing continues to grow, and I am excited to share all my knowledge, skills, and experience. Today, I'm not just a tutor but also a professional DJ, actively releasing music and pursuing my dream to become a world-touring DJ.

My teaching ethos for DJing is deeply rooted in tradition. I believe in honing the craft by relying on your ears rather than your eyes. Today's equipment is packed with visual cues and guidance, but I find these can often distract from the essence of DJing—connecting with the crowd. My goal is to help you become so confident in your skills that you won't need to rely on the software to guide you.

I encourage you to discover your own unique style. By exposing you to a variety of techniques, I aim to help you find what resonates with you. I firmly believe that music selection is a personal choice, and I will never dictate what you should play. Your taste and individuality are paramount.

Above all, DJing should be fun! I am passionate about sharing my experience and enthusiasm with you, and I strive to make every lesson engaging and enjoyable.
