Course Equipment & Software Compatibility Notice
Please read the following information carefully before purchasing this course. By ticking the box below, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted the information outlined in this notice.

—-

The digital DJ market includes a wide range of DJ software platforms and equipment manufacturers, each offering multiple models and configurations.

DJ software is primarily used to analyse, organise, and manage music libraries, as well as to configure settings and preferences for DJ equipment.

DJ equipment generally falls into one of the following two categories:

  1. Standalone DJ Equipment
Standalone systems do not require a laptop during performance. A laptop is typically used only to prepare the music library before exporting it to a storage device.

  2. Laptop-Based DJ Controllers
Laptop-based controllers require a compatible DJ software and a laptop for both music preparation and live performance.

Course Structure and Supported Software

This course has been designed to accommodate the most commonly used DJ software platforms and equipment types currently available on the market.

Additional recordings and tailored content have been provided for the following DJ software:

  • Rekordbox

  • Serato

  • Engine DJ (Denon)

  • Traktor Pro 4

All practical and equipment-based chapters have been recorded separately for both standalone and laptop-based setups to ensure clarity and ease of learning.

While the demonstrations are adapted where necessary to suit each setup, it is important to understand that the fundamental skills, techniques, and exercises taught in this course remain consistent across all equipment types.

Demonstration Equipment Used

All demonstrations within this course are performed using Pioneer DJ equipment and Rekordbox DJ software, specifically:

Standalone: Pioneer XDJ-RR + Rekordbox

Laptop Controller: Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 + Rekordbox

These models have been selected due to their popularity and accessibility within their respective categories.

Use of Alternative Equipment or Software

If you use different DJ equipment or software than those demonstrated in the course, this does not prevent you from learning or applying the fundamental skills taught.

DJ equipment across brands and platforms is largely standardised in terms of core controls and functionality. The techniques taught in this course are universal and transferable, regardless of manufacturer or software, provided you have a basic level of familiarity with your own equipment.

Where meaningful differences exist between software platforms or equipment types that may affect learning, these differences are addressed within the course content.

Account Setup and Content Access

After purchase, you will be required to select your DJ software and equipment type within your online account profile. The platform will automatically display the most relevant course content based on your selections.

You may update your software or equipment preferences at any time, and your available course content will adjust accordingly.

By purchasing this course, you receive access to both standalone and laptop-based content, as well as all supported software versions listed above.

If your chosen software is not explicitly listed, the course is still suitable, as the teaching focuses on transferable, foundational DJ skills.

Scope of Instruction and Technical Support

This course is designed to teach the fundamental skills of DJing and does not provide comprehensive technical instruction for every model of DJ equipment or software.

While essential setup guidance and operational instruction are included to help you get started, responsibility for advanced configuration, troubleshooting, firmware issues, or technical faults lies with the equipment or software manufacturer.

For such issues, you should refer to the official documentation or customer support services provided by the relevant brand.

Acknowledgement

By proceeding with the purchase and ticking the acknowledgement box, you confirm that you have read and understood the information above and accept that:
The course content is delivered using specific demonstration equipment
The teaching is focused on transferable fundamentals rather than brand-specific operation
Equipment or software differences do not constitute grounds for refund

If you want, I can also supply a shortened checkbox summary or a legally tighter version for added protection.

Music Genres Used in the Course

The music used throughout the demonstrations and exercises in this course is primarily drawn from the following electronic music genres: Tech House, Deep House, Afro House, Bass House, Melodic Techno, Techno, and Garage.

Although the course is advertised as suitable for House, Techno, and Garage, the fundamental principles taught apply across electronic music more broadly. Concepts such as phrasing, arrangement, structure, sound elements, waveform reading, and mixing techniques are transferable across electronic styles. Where genres differ, the primary distinctions are typically sound character and tempo rather than underlying technique.

The techniques taught in this course can be applied to other electronic music genres, including (but not limited to) Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Disco, Hard House, and related styles.

Genre classification can be subjective and may vary between individuals, communities, and regions. Genre labels used within this course reflect the instructor’s professional classification and are intended to support learning rather than define strict genre boundaries.

If you prefer to practise using a different style of music, you are instructed within the course on how to source your own music and organise a personal practice playlist (for example, a ‘My Tracks’ playlist) to use alongside the exercises and techniques taught.

Differences in personal genre preference, genre naming, or genre classification do not constitute grounds for a refund.

Some tracks used within the course demonstrations and exercises may contain occasional explicit language. By enrolling in the course, you acknowledge and accept that brief instances of explicit lyrics may be present and are incidental to the teaching content.
